When this part of York Street was rebuilt in 2001 the Corby family, with years of experience in the licensed and catering trades, decided to open an old fashioned tea room to give locals and visitors alike good, freshly prepared food in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Although it was a substantial risk, as nothing like it existed in Ramsgate, their faith and ability to deliver what the customers wanted meant it was a success from day one and today goes from strength to strength with the normal everyday business and special events for charities and local organisations.

Following their recent retirement, the tea rooms are now owned and managed by family friends, Paul & Sue Crush, who as well as retaining all the staff and the majority of the popular menu, intend to keep ‘Corby’s’ as Thanet’s most popular & friendly place to eat cake and catch up.
